That's a beautiful illustration. I like this interpretation of a half-feathered theropod, this is how I imagine them too.

I have never seen anything like external ears on a diapsid, however I may be wrong, probably quite likely if I say it has never happened. The ears on synapsids like mammals are possible because of the fused bones within their lower mandible; however this doesn't necessarily mean that external growths are not completely impossible.

This is really interesting and it's cool that you put thought into something like this.
