Two protoceratops with humps on their tails that are actually reservoirs of fatty tissue, this minimizes the insulating effect fat would have if distributed over the rest of their bodies, helping animals to survive in hot climates like camels do. The hump could also had a thermoregulatory role.

It allows the Protos to store fat in a way that does not make them overheated, I believe. This is an excellent idea of yours, Nefarus.

Makes sense, it's more desert friendly than a hot and cumbersome fat layer.
